Detailing kit
Quick detailer, microfiber towels and a waterless wash for wiping road dust off at the show field.
Folding show chairs
A chair with a shade canopy for long days on a hot show field or the Pigeon Forge Parkway.
Pop-up canopy
A 10 by 10 canopy with leg weights; many shows require weights on any tent.
Car show display board
A stand-up sign with the year, make, engine and history so judges and visitors can read about the car.
Fire extinguisher
Some judged shows require a mounted or visible extinguisher; a 2.5 lb dry chemical unit is common.
Drip pan and oil mat
Venues on grass and indoor halls like the LeConte Center often ask for a pan under older cars.
Battery tender
Keeps a show car battery charged between cruise-ins and over the winter.
Mirror for underside display
A mirror slid under the car lets visitors see the frame and undercarriage work.
Before You Load Up
Check the organizer page for rules on canopies, generators, open coolers and extinguishers; big shows like the Rod Runs and the Corvette Expo post a rules page with registration. Bring cash for registration and the 50/50 drawing, a printed copy of your registration, and a small cleaning kit for the last wipe-down after you park.
Car Show Gear Questions

Do car shows require a fire extinguisher?
Some judged shows do; check the rules on the organizer page.
Can I put up a tent at a show?
Usually, if it is weighted. Indoor venues and some street shows do not allow them.
What goes on a display board?
Year, make and model, engine, notable work done and anything about the car’s history.
How do I keep a show car clean on the field?
A waterless wash or quick detailer with plush microfiber towels takes off road dust without scratching.
